Another Hard Luck Weekend of Racing

On Friday night at Luxemburg, I started 4th in my heat race and quickly got shuffled toward the back. After avoiding 2 separate wrecks, I got back up into the 6th position, 1 spot out of transferring to the feature. On the final lap, I was able to get inside of Greg Potts and took away the 5th and final transfer spot at the line.

I would get the 14th starting spot on the grid for the feature, and it would be very hard to maneuver on a very slick track. I stuck to the bottom groove behind Josh Long and Dennis Miesler during the opening segment of the race, when cars started to scatter off of turn 2. I hoped to avoid a spinning JJ Andersen, and it looked as though I would make it through the wreck, but contact between Brad Theys and Miesler pushed Miesler into the right side of my car. I ended up on top of Miesler’s machine, ending my night with a busted right rear trailing arm and shock along with a flat tire.

We were able to piece the car back together to run on Saturday night at Thunderhill Raceway, and in the heat race I struggled again in the muddy conditions, finishing in 6th. That set me up with a 16th place starting spot in the feature. We ran a little different setup than we normally have, and it didn’t quite produce the results we were looking for. I did manage to take home a 12th place finish, which is much easier to swallow than the result from Friday night.

With the amount of work put in on Saturday, we decided against running at Seymour on Sunday, leaving the car pretty much ready to go for next weekend. It’s likely we’ll be found at Luxemburg & Thunderhill this coming weekend.
