This past weekend we only had one night of racing on the schedule, that being Friday night at our hometown track of Luxemburg Speedway. Even with Oshkosh Speedzone having the night off, all of the sportmods that signed in would transfer to the night’s feature.
In the heat race, I started outside of the front row alongside Andy Ratajczak, and was able to get the lead on the opening lap. As the laps wound down in the race, Jeremy Cota was beginning to stick the nose of his car underneath mine, but I was able to hold him off to capture the heat race win. The win was my 2nd of the season, equaling the two heat race wins from the 2011 season.
I would start 2nd on the grid for the feature alongside Dennis Miesler. I slipped into the 3rd position in the early going, but after a few cautions and a lot of driver error I found myself falling even further back in the field. I fell to the 13th position on the final restart, but was able to get back up to 11th when the white flag flew.
The race ended under caution, so my official finish was scored as 11th. Next weekend’s racing schedule may be an empty one for us, as Luxemburg Speedway is not racing due to the Kewaunee County Fair. Plans are to be back in action the following Friday at Luxemburg, as we prepare for the final month of the IMCA points season.
