Coming into the final night of points racing at Luxemburg Speedway, we sat comfortably in 9th place in the standings. Dennis Miesler sat 7 points ahead in 8th place, and Jarred VanLaanen was 12 points ahead in 7th place.

21 cars checked in for championship night, and I would start 3rd on the grid for the heat race. I was able to grab the lead on the opening lap, getting by Josh Lambert and Nick Mahlik on the inside. I pulled out to a decent lead, but a slight push in the corners allowed Brian Bruechert to reel me in.

Bruechert would go by, and some contact between his right rear rim and my left front rim would break my upper A frame. Luckily, no other damage occurred, and I was able to finish in the runner-up spot.

I would start in the 4th position for the feature, and this time luck would not be in my favor. Polesitter Jake Maurer had a tire go down on the backstretch of the opening lap, veering his racer toward mine and sending me off the track. No caution flag was thrown, and I fell all the way back to 18th.

Fighting my way back through the field, I would get all the way back up to 9th for a short period of time, before a final caution flag re-racked the field for a green-white-checker finish. I hugged the low groove on the final laps, unable to edge Mielser at the line for 9th.

Our 10th place feature finish wasn’t exactly what we had hoped for the final night, but in the end we left without extensive damage to the car. Finishing 9th place in points on the season at Luxemburg is a career best for the team, as we look to 2013 for an even better season.

There are a few races left on the 2012 schedule, as we’re heading west this week to Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, WI. They are holding the largest paying B-mod special in the country, with the 3-day event getting underway on September 6th. We’ll be at the facility on Wednesday, shaking down the car during their open practice session that night. We will be updating our fans via Facebook and Twitter on how we fare, and in-car videos will be uploaded on our YouTube channel upon our return home.

We would like to thank all of our 2012 sponsors for supporting us through a very successful season: budzodesigns.com of Luxemburg, University Avenue Market of Green Bay, Demon Race Engines of Luxemburg, Kroll Racing Fabrication of New Franken, Vlies Custom Race Car Bodies of Kewaunee, 1330 Wraps of Green Bay and Jerovetz Motorsports Shock Service of Green Bay
